Summary :
On July 13, 2018, at approximately 9:53 PM, Bell Gardens Police Department Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a motorcyclist for violating numerous traffic violations and possibly driving while intoxicated.

The motorcyclist failed to yield to marked BGPD emergency vehicles, and led officers on an approximate 1.9 mile high speed pursuit. The motorcyclist violated countless vehicle code violations, and at times, reached speeds, in excess of 80 mph. The motorcyclist lost control of his motorcycle and collided into three vehicles on Firestone Blvd. at the 710 Freeway in the city of South Gate.

Medics responded to the scene to treat the suspect for his injuries. The suspect succumbed to his injuries at the scene and was later identified as 41 year old Francisco Montoya Jr, of Norwalk. No other injuries were reported.

During the investigation officers recovered possible narcotics from the scene. The South Gate Police Department took the lead on the traffic collision and the investigation is on going.
